How We Got Nathaniel Rateliff To Perform At DealerSocket User Summit 2016

August 18, 2016

Hi! My name is Tracy, and I am the event manager for DealerSocket. I love this time of year as we gear up for DealerSocket User Summit. There is an incredible amount of teamwork and customer focus that goes into every little detail: picking the tracks, the classes, the guest speakers, and of course everyone’s favorite, The Bash.

We always begin planning The Bash with the band. It starts with a whiteboard and a wish list. Who can we bring to Texas, the home of legends like George Strait and the queen herself, Beyoncé? Of course, there’s also the most amazing music scene in Austin to try to live up to. The whiteboard gets filled with all sorts of ideas, from the completely crazy to the “that would be so cool.”

This year, one name appeared on the list, pretty close to the top: Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. It’s a band that many on our marketing team became fans of after a great performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

My first thought was to find out how to contact their management for a potential booking and hope someone actually calls me back without thinking I’m a crazy fan. As fortune would have it, one member of our marketing team says the magic words for an event planner: “My brother is best friends with the saxophone player. Let me call him.” Two calls later, we got an introduction to the management company.

The stars began to align when we learned the band will be performing at Austin City Limits, a little more than an hour away, the night before DSUS opens. It took a few more things falling into place before we had our super-cool band booked.

Everyone in the office has now become such huge fans. We get excited seeing them in the Kia commercial and hearing them in the Lipton commercial.

I am so pleased to have NR&NS as our 2016 headliner at The Bash. We all look forward to turning you into as big of fans as we have become.
